I-90 - Stabilize Slopes West of Snoqualmie Summit - Complete October 2008

Overview
In January 2006, WSDOT's chief engineering geologist delivered an unstable slope report to Governor Gregoire which evaluated the slope hazards along the I-90 corridor near Snoqualmie Pass.

These two slopes were identified in the report as high hazard / high risk slopes. They are located approximately 2 miles west of the summit on the north side of the westbound lanes. The two slopes are adjacent to the area where a rock slide caused three fatalities on September 11, 2005 and shutdown westbound I-90 for more than 13 hours.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
By stabilizing the existing slopes, WSDOT will reduce the potential for future rockslides.
Car GlyphRelieves Congestion
This project will reduce the possibility of emergency closures and traffic delays due to rock slides.
