Overview
WSDOT made safety repairs to the drainage system underneath the eastbound lanes of I-90 at the west portal to the Mercer Island lid.
This project was necessary to capture water that was flowing beneath the roadway, washing away base material from underneath the pavement and seeping up through cracks in the concrete panels. This caused a loss of support to the concrete roadway.
 | Improves Safety
The new drainage system will direct the subsurface water away from the base of the roadway, which will preserve the integrity of the concrete panels and improve safety.
