This P-1, Roadway Preservation project replaced the asphalt driving lanes on I-90 for 11 miles from the Vantage Bridge to a mile west of George. The asphalt was also replaced at the Silica Road Interchange (Exit 143), the Wanapum Scenic View Area (Exit 139 Eastbound), and Echo Scenic View Area (Exit 139 Westbound). Four miles of badly deteriorated asphalt shoulders were replaced just west of George. This project included fog sealing of the driving lanes for the SR 26 interchange (Exit 137) at the east end of the Vantage Bridge.
The eastbound left lane and both westbound lanes showed signs of distress. Cracks and potholes were forming in the
driving lanes and some of the shoulders.
Construction started Mar. 21 and was complete May 30.
