Overview
Interstate 5 was built in 1966 and the concrete poured nearly 50 years ago is deteriorating. Our maintenance crews have been patching the pavement for eyars, but it was falling apart faster than they could fix it.

Contractor crews removed and replaced 58 broken and cracked concrete panels on I-5 between S. 216th Street and Southcenter to create a smoother ride for drivers.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
Drivers will benefit from a smoother, safer roadway surface and the repairs will help extend the life of this stretch of I-5.
Car GlyphRelieves Congestion
Emergency repairs on I-5 create significant congestion. Repairing the panels before they become an emergency prevents unplanned closures.

These unplanned closures can create signifciant congestion.
