I-405 - NE 132nd St. Bridge

Map of NE 132nd St. Bridge vicinity

Overview
WSDOT will construct a new I-405 bridge over NE 132nd Street, allowing for future widening of NE 132nd Street. This project will allow for improved access and reduced traffic congestion at this and other Kirkland interchanges.

Why is WSDOT constructing this new bridge?
This new bridge will allow for future widening of I-405, future construction of a new interchange (NE 132nd Street Interchange Project), and greater east-west capacity on NE 132nd Street under the freeway.

Project Benefits

  • Safety. This project alleviates traffic congestion at the NE 124th Street interchange, reducing congestion-related accidents.
  • Congestion relief. Provides increased east-west access under I-405, allowing motorists to travel across the freeway in a less congested location.
  • Environment. WSDOT's I-405 Corridor Program team is designing the project to avoid and minimize impacts to the environment.

Increasing safety is one of our priorities
The addition of this new bridge provides increased east-west access for motorists, reducing congestion related accidents at the NE 124th Street interchange. Congestion-related accidents – rear-end and side-swipe crashes – make up the largest percentage of accidents on I-405.
