Crews drill the shafts for the piers that will support the new NE 116th Street Bridge. The old piers (in the background) will be removed and will enable NE 116th Street to be widened.Crews grade an area near the NE 100th Street overpass on the west side of I-405. A new 930 foot long noise wall will be constructed in this area by the end of September 2006.Crews cleared the area behind the exisiting noise wall (in the background) on the east side of I-405 just north of NE 85th Street. The exisiting noise wall will be demolished in order to widen the freeway; the new noise wall will be built near the chain link fence. Crews begin construction of a 250 x 50 foot detention vault on the west side of I-405 near NE 116th Street in Kirkland. The new vault will temporarily store runoff during heavy rains, and regulate stormwater flows into area creeks.
