Crews prepare to pave the new lanes on I-405. By early fall, four general purpose lanes and one HOV lane will be open for travel between NE 85th Street and NE 116th Street.Crews are constructing a 6 1/2 foot culvert under I-405 at Forbes Creek. They finished tunnel-boring the new pipe system to provide fish passage throughout this portion of the creek channel within WSDOT right-of-way. Once completed this fall, the new culvert, in combination with over 250 feet of constructed natural streambed, will provide new fish passage and habitat for cutthroat trout.Through August, construction crews worked on the noise wall near NE 85th Street. They minimized the impacts on traffic by working at night.Throughout August crews have been building new noise walls near NE 85th Street to accommodate the widened freeway and reconfigured ramps. The new noise walls have a stone block pattern on the side that faces neighborhoods. The noise wall panels will be completed by the end of October 2006.
