Crews demolish a portion of the I-405 bridge over NE 116th Street in Kirkland. The bridge will be demolished and constructed in phases. The new bridge will accommodate an additional lane of traffic in each direction.
I-405 remained open during bridge demolition. Crews began work at 11 p.m. on Friday April 21st and completed the work by 4 p.m. Sunday the 23rd, 12 hours earlier than expected.
NE 116th Street was closed where it crosses under I-405. A signed detour provided access around the closed area.
Crews prepare the approaches for the new, widened bridge. The bridge is scheduled for completion in 2007.
