Eastern Region Chip Seal - Complete September 2009

Overview
To preserve the roadways and to improve the driving surface, a Bituminous Surface Treatment (BST), also known as a chip seal, was applied. It is a flexible, protective surface of asphalt emulsion and gravel that is applied to existing or repaired pavement. The following highways were resurfaced under this project:

  • SR 20/Ferry County Line to Republic
  • SR 21/US 395 to I-90
  • SR 21/Wilbur to Keller Ferry
  • SR 21/Republic to Canada
  • SR 26/Washtucna to LaCrosse
  • SR 174/Vicinity of Electric City to Wilbur
  • SR 260/Kahlotus to Washtucna
  • SR 263/Snake River to Kahlotus
  • US 395/Boyds to Canada
  • How You Benefit
    Dollar Sign Glyph Economic Incentive
The chip-seal layer preserves the underlying roadway structure thus avoiding the high-cost of rebuilding the highway.
