Crews clearing the site for a pond near the Federal Way city limits.
Pond sites are chosen by how much benefit the pond will provide in the location. The size of a pond is determined by the amount of rainfall it will need to accommodate. These ponds can even handle major events that occur in the 100 year storm cycle.

Crews level the ground and clear excess debris away from the site.

Crews grade the sides of the pond near the SR 18 interchange.
The grading slows the movement of water allowing time for the water to filter. Below the surface of the pond there are other filtration features.
