The Highway Safety Construction Program is a specific legislative program designation for safety projects of
types illustrated by the following recent examples:

For the reasons just described above, projects in this program make up only a portion of the overall investment in making highways safer. In this program the specific purposes are to prevent the risks of accidents occurring and
to reduce the incidence or severity of crashes at locations where they have occurred.
