Growth in Non-agricultural Employment in the State: 1980 to 2002 and 2002 to 2020

From 1980 to 2002, the number of jobs for Washington (excluding agricultural employment) grew from 1.61 million to 2.65 million, an average annual growth rate of 2 percent.

It is expected that 779,900 jobs will be added to Washington's economy between 2002 and 2020. This represents an average annual growth rate of 1.3 percent, bringing the state's total number of jobs from 2.65 million in 2002 to 3.45 million by 2020.
