WSDOT is repaving several I-5 on and off-ramps  in this area. Ramps include: the northbound I-5 on- and off-ramps at S. 188th Street, the northbound I-5 off-ramp at Southcenter Parkway, all the ramps at S. 272nd Street and S. 272nd Street under I-5. Crews also will replace old signs, improve lighting, bring guardrail up to current safety standards and improve sidewalk accessibility.  

• Monday, Nov. 16 - Friday, Nov. 20 - We do not expect construction to close any ramp associated with the project. There may be shoulder closures on all ramps daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for electrical work.

We will retrofit 19 bridges on or near I-5 from central King County to South Snohomish County . Six of these bridges are in Tukwila, and 13 are located in Mountlake Terrace and Lynnwood. These retrofits will bring all 19 bridges up to current seismic standards.

• Sunday, Nov. 22 - Crews will close the two left lanes of northbound I-5 from SR 900 to just south of the West Seattle Freeway. Lane closures begin at 7 p.m. and all lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
• Monday, Nov. 23 - Crews will close lanes of northbound I-5 as follows: the two left lanes from just south of Albro Place to just south of the West Seattle Freeway; the two right lanes from SR 900 to S. Othello Street. Lane closures begin at 7 p.m. and all lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
• Tuesday, Nov. 24 - Crews will alternate closures of the two left and two right lanes of northbound I-5 from just north of Tully's to Dearborn Avenue from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-5 express lanes schedule changes

WSDOT typically operates the I-5 express lanes during the weekdays in the southbound direction from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. and northbound from noon to 11 p.m. The weekend schedule operates southbound from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and northbound from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.  

• Friday, Nov. 13 -  through the morning of Saturday, Nov. 21 -Due to construction on the mainline, the express lanes will remain open and southbound overnight. The reversal from northbound to southbound will occur daily at 9:00 p.m. 
• Saturday, Nov. 21 - Due to construction, the express lanes will be closed to all traffic at 7 p.m. The lanes will reopen in the southbound direction at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 22.  
• Sunday, Nov. 22 - the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 25  - Due to roadwork on southbound I-5, the express lanes will remain open in the southbound direction overnight. The reversal from northbound to southbound will occur each day at 9 p.m.

I-90 Express Lane Schedule
The express lanes operate on a schedule to assist the flow of traffic during busy travel times. These lanes are scheduled to move in the direction that will relieve the most congestion from the transportation system. We operate the lanes on a typical daily schedule that changes on the weekends and occasionally for major events.

• On Monday, Nov. 23 - the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 25 - Crews will close the westbound I-90 collector-distributor at 148th Avenue SE nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for installation of crossing framing steel on the bridge pier in the I-90 median.

Crews will repave SR 520 between I-405 in Bellevue and West Lake Sammamish Parkway in Redmond. They will also replace crumbling asphalt at the approaches to five concrete bridges.

Crews will widen State Route 520 in Redmond from two to four lanes in each direction. We already completed the flyover ramp from westbound SR 202 to westbound 520.  

• Monday, Nov. 9 - Friday, Nov. 20 - Crews will close the eastbound SR 202 ramp to westbound SR 520 daily, except Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  A detour will be provided.
• Monday, Nov. 23 - the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 25 - Crews will close the West Lake Sammamish Parkway on-ramp to eastbound SR 520 nightly for construction work. Monday night's closure lasts from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday night's closure runs from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Monday, Nov. 23 - the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 25 -Crews will close the right lane of northbound West Lake Sammamish Parkway at 9 p.m. nightly for girder staging.

SR 522: City of Kenmore Improvement Project

The city of Kenmore is making several improvements to SR 522 between 65th Avenue NE and the east city limits (83rd Place NE), including adding new traffic signals and sidewalks, widening SR 522 for business access and transit lanes, and replacing the Swamp Creek Bridge.

• Monday, Nov. 16 – Friday, Nov. 20 – The eastbound and westbound Business Access and Transit (BAT) lanes on SR 522 from 65th Avenue NE to 73rd Avenue NE will continue to have intermittent closures daily from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for construction work.

Crews will widen SR 900 from the vicinity of SE 78th Street and SE 82nd Street to Newport Way. The I-90 shoulders on the westbound off-ramp to SR 900 will also be widened.
