Striping season highlights this week

Striping season lasts from April 16 until October 31. Crews will re-stripe more than 4,500 miles on dozens of highways around the Puget Sound area between the King/Pierce county line and the
U.S./Canadian border. View the monthly striping schedule.
Crews will be striping the yellow edge lines of both directions of I-90 between Jones Road in Preston and SE 436th Avenue in North Bend. This work is weather-dependent.

Crews will seismically retrofit 15 bridges on or near I-5 in South Seattle and on SR 900 in Renton. These retrofits will bring the bridges up to current seismic standards.
- Monday, August 25 - Friday, August 29 - Crews will close the right lane of eastbound and westbound SR 900 at the Aberdeen Street bridge for construction work. The eastbound lane will close from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the westbound lane will close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tuesday, September 2 - Thursday, September 4 - Crews will close the HOV lane and two left lanes of westbound I-90 from Bellevue Way to East Mecer Way for construction work. The HOV lane will close at 7 p.m., the first left lane at 9 p.m. and the second left lane at 11 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.
August 2008 - The bicycle and pedestrian path along the East Channel Bridge will be narrowed to allow crews more room for construction work.

SR 169: Landslide repair at bridge over Green River, #MS 6053

We will begin the first phase of a two stage project to stabilize a landslide under the southeast end of the approach to the Kummer Bridge. We will be installing soil nails and spray-on concrete to hold the slope in place. During the second phase, to begin in late September, we will install a series of drainage pipes to remove excess groundwater from the landslide area.
- Friday, August 29 - Crew will reduce the SR 167 bridge over the Green River to one lane of alternating north and southbound traffic from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m for construction work.
- Saturday, August 30 - Monday, September 1 - Both lanes of SR 167 at the Green River bridge will be open to traffic for Labor Day travel.
- Tuesday, September 2 - Sunday, September 14 - Crews will reduce SR 167 at the Green River bridge to one lane of alternating north and southbound traffic from dawn to dusk for construction work. Both lanes will be open overnight.

Crews will replace a culvert under I-405 in Renton that was damaged in the Dec. 3 storm. First, crews installed a pump and pipe system to divert Thunder Hills Creek away from the damaged culvert. Next, crews will use a hydraulic jack to install a new culvert.

- Until further notice: Crews have shifted traffic lanes between NE 80th Aveneue and NE 83rd Place for paving and utility work. The middle two-way turn lane and the left turn and U-turn at NE 83rd Place is closed as a result of the traffic shift. A detour route is provided.

- Sunday, August 31 - Thursday, September 4 - Crews will close one eastbound or westbound lane on SR 522 from I-405 to Kaysner Way from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to excavate the site for construction.
- Monday, August 25 - Until Further Notice - Crews will shift traffic from eastbound SR 522 at I-405 to the collector-distributor (center lane) and back to SR 522 via a temporary roadway. This traffic shift is necessary for new road construction.
- Monday, August 25 - Friday, October 24 - Crews will close the left turn lane from Woodinville Drive to westbound SR 522 for 60 days for road construction work. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes. Crews will also close the westbound SR 522 U-turn to eastbound SR 522 at Woodinville Drive. Westbound drivers are advised to make U-turn at Kaysner Way.
- August 2008 - Crews working for WSDOT have closed a segment of the North Creek bicycle/pedestrian trail from just north of State Route 522 on the University of Washington Bothell/Cascadia Community College Campus to the SR 522 overpass near the junction of the Sammamish River Trail. The month-long closure is necessary so crews can begin widening the SR 522 bridges and build a new southern entrance to the college campus.

One lane will remain open at all times. Flaggers will alternate northbound and southbound traffic into the open lane during the closures.
