Weekly update of construction closures in Downtown Seattle and SODO

This webpage contains information about WSDOT construction projects affecting vehicle or pedestrian traffic on I-5, SR 99, I-5/I-90 interchange, SR 519 and city streets through downtown Seattle and SODO. The information on this page could change without notice.

WSDOT:
SR 99 North Access Project 

  • Monday, April 25
    • All lanes of southbound SR 99 will be closed between the Aurora Bridge and Thomas Street from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
    • The left lane of northbound SR 99 will also be closed between Valley and Raye streets from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Tuesday, April 26
    • All southbound lanes of SR 99 will be closed between the Aurora Bridge and Thomas Street from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Wednesday, April 27 and Thursday, April 28
    • Two southbound lanes of SR 99 will be closed between the Aurora Bridge and Thomas Street from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.


Two Week Closure of SR 99:

  • Beginning Friday, April 29
    • Alaskan Way Viaduct will be closed between South Spokane Street and the south end of the Battery Street Tunnel for approximately two weeks.


Aurora Bridge Painting

  • Monday, Aug. 10 until further notice - Streets around and underneath the SR 99 Aurora Avenue Bridge may experience closures during a repainting project that will span two years. Most of the work will take place off the roads. Specific road closures will be listed as they are known. For more information, please visit the project webpage
    • The east sidewalk of SR 99 between Raye Street and Bridge Way North will close Jan. 25 to approximately September 2016.
  • Monday, April 11 further notice
    • The northbound right lane across the Aurora Bridge will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays.
  • Saturday, April 16 until further notice
    • The northbound right lane across the Aurora Bridge will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each Saturday.
  • Monday, April 11 until further notice
    • Two right lanes of northbound SR 99 across the Aurora Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.

 

North End Closures

Central Waterfront Closures

  • Parking beneath the viaduct is permanently closed between South King Street and Virginia Street due to tunnel and Elliott Bay Seawall construction.

SODO Closures

SR 99 Tunnel Project

  • Beginning Friday, April 29
    • Alaskan Way Viaduct will be closed between South Spokane Street and the south end of the Battery Street Tunnel for approximately two weeks.

WSDOT: SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Project 

  • No high-impact closures scheduled at this time.

WSDOT: I-90 Two-Way Transit and HOV

  • Friday, May 20 to Monday, May 23 -- Westbound I-90 will be closed between Bellevue and Seattle with traffic diverted to the center roadways from 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

  • Friday, June 3 to Monday, June 6 -- Westbound I-90 will be closed between Bellevue and Seattle with traffic diverted to the center roadways from 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.
