I-90 Snoqualmie Pass Detour Map

Winter Driving Conditions on Passes
Drivers should carry chains and be prepared for winter conditions across the mountains and in Eastern Washington.  This includes compact snow and ice on all mountain pass highways.

I-90 Snoqualmie pass is now open, Traction tires are advised and oversized loads are prohibited. Drivers should be cautious and prepare to slow down for slushy road conditions and standing water on the roadway. Expect some initial back-ups and congestion and consider delaying trips for a few hours until the back-ups dissipate. Anticipate single-lane closures as crews continue their work to improve roadway conditions. The roadway opened to traffic about 12:15 a.m. after being closed since Thursday due to heavy wet snow on the roadway brought down by avalanche control work.

US 2 - Stevens Pass is now open. US 2 Stevens Pass reopened at 5 p.m. Sunday, February 10th after being closed by an avalanche on Friday morning at 10 a.m.

As the highway reopened, it was 29 degrees, snowing, with snow and slush on the highway. Traction tires are advised and oversize loads, prohibited. Power is still out at the summit so there are no traffic cameras and no variable speed limit signs, overhead electronic message signs or highway advisory radio. The Stevens Pass Ski Area will also remain closed through Monday.

US 12 - White Pass is now open. After 57 hours of extensive snow removal, Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) crews successfully reopened US 12 in the vicinity of White Pass. The roadway was reopened to traffic just before 9 a.m. Sunday morning, but motorists are warned that treacherous conditions and long delays may still occur.

Motorists are reminded that weather and road conditions can change rapidly and should plan accordingly.  For current traveler information, please visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic or call 5-1-1.
