BINGEN – Members of the community are invited to an open house to learn more about a project that will make traveling between State Route 14 and the growing Bingen Point area safer and more reliable.

The public and emergency responders currently use at-grade railroad crossings to access the Port of Klickitat and Bingen Point. With planned economic expansion and anticipated increased train traffic, delays and connectivity are expected through town in the future.

“Improving the connection between the waterfront and Bingen will help keep traffic and freight moving through the area,” said WSDOT Project Engineer Devin Reck. “While we’re still early in the design process, it’s important to hear from the public on the potential options before we move forward.”

Open house information

  • When: 4–6 p.m. Thursday, April 27
  • Where: 113 West Steuben, Bingen

There is no formal presentation. During the open house, staff members from WSDOT will discuss the design and construction timeline with the public, as well as answer any questions.

The $22.9 million project is funded by the 2015 Connecting Washington transportation package. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2020.
