GIG HARBOR – All traffic on eastbound State Route 16 will be diverted through the toll plaza during night hours this Tuesday and Wednesday for maintenance on the electronic toll equipment, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. Between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23 and Wednesday, October 24, crews will divert all traffic through the toll booths while maintenance occurs on the camera equipment over the electronic toll lanes. In addition, the 24th Street on-ramp to eastbound SR 16 will be closed between 8 and 11 p.m. Tuesday, October 23.
Vehicles equipped with Good To Go! transponders can use the toll booth lanes to the left that display the signs saying ETC (electronic toll collection). Good To Go! customers do not have to stop at the toll booths, but can simply drive through and have their transponders automatically read. Drivers without a Good To Go! account must stop at a toll booth displaying the Cash sign. Once through the toll booths, traffic will flow onto the new bridge and drivers may change lanes once on the bridge.
