TACOMA – Emergency personnel this morning rescued an injured Narrows Bridge worker from the new span’s east tower.
A contract worker with Tacoma Narrows Constructors injured his leg while working about 140 feet below the deck of the eastbound bridge.
Crews closed two lanes of the bridge before 10 a.m. to create space for the rescue effort, which was complete by 11:30 p.m. Eastbound traffic did not back up.
