Washington State Highway Log

rural state highwayThe State Highway Log, which is published annually, contains roadway data and mileage statistics for more than 7,000 miles of Washington State Highways. It is designed to provide a record of current highway system information and a source for computing distances between major points. Each State Highway includes such items as: the number of lanes; the length and width of turn lanes; shoulder, roadway and median widths; roadway surface pavement type; legal speed limits; and the State Route Milepost location for such physical features as intersecting roads, bridges and underpasses, county and corporate limits and on/off ramps.

The electronic State Highway Log is divided into seven separate data files; one comprehensive log and six regional logs as in our printed versions. Each of these seven files, once opened, contain indexing for highways listed in the left hand margin. By clicking on a specific highway within this indexing area, the highway log user will then open for that particular highway.

Note: The Highway Log, as of 12/31/05, has been renamed to reflect the year of data collection rather than the publication year. For example, the 2005 Highway Log is representative of 2004 data and the 2005 B is representative of 2005 data.
