Basic Mapping & GPS Certified Training - Course CP8

Description: This one-day course teaches the basics of GPS and how to collect data using Trimble Mapping and GIS GPS equipment. Course topics are: GPS fundamentals, configuring the GPS equipment, field data collection techniques, and a field data collection session including downloading collected data to an office workstation. The training will include both a classroom session and a field exercise. Participants should come with appropriate clothing and equipment for working outdoors.
Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the three segments of GPS
- List the sources of environmental errors that affect GPS data accuracy
- Identify the acceptable number of tracked space vehicles (SV's) for obtaining an accurate GPS position
- Understand the Asset Surveyor menus
- Name the Asset Surveyor (collection software) settings that affect the accuracy of your data and recommend values for the settings
This course is available to Local Agencies.
Attendees: This course is intended for people who will collect field data but will not be processing the data.
