GIS Road Log
The GIS Road Log, created by WSDOT's Transportation Data Office and the Office of Information Technology, is an abbreviated version of the State Highway Log in a GIS-friendly, electronic tabular format. Data includes road features such as bridges, intersections, and undercrossings; roadside features such as rest areas and side streets; jurisdictional information such as city and county boundaries as well as information about speed limits and number of lanes. State Route identifiers and locations based on State Route Mileposts and Accumulated Route Mileage are included for geographic reference and for use with the Washington State Department of Transportation's 24k and 500k Linear Referencing System.
Shapefiles of commonly requested features have been extracted for ease of use, including: bridges, tunnels, undercrossings, intersections, grade railroad crossings, on and off ramps, traffic signals, milepost markers, lane numbers, legal speed limits, WSDOT District - Maintenance Area - Maintenance Sections, rest areas, weigh stations, divided highways, and State Route Functional Class designations. Features that span a length of road are represented as linear shapefiles with beginning and ending Accumulated Route Mileage values. Tunnels, bridges and undercrossings also include structure numbers.
Customers external to WSDOT can obtain a copy of the data from the GeoDataDistribution site.
WSDOT employees can access this data via w:\data\gis\gisosc\geodata\maps\noscale\DOT_TDO\GISRoadLog and via the ArcSDE SQL server. WSDOT employees - see the GeoDataCatalog for additional information.
