The Transportation Data Office (TDO) establishes and maintains a Distance Measuring Instrument (DMI) Linear-Referencing System (LRS) on all state highways. A DMI is a carefully calibrated survey odometer that measures the distance a vehicle has traveled. The DMI based LRS is only collected in one direction of travel, typically north and east bound. The south and westbound data is referenced from the north and eastbound mile posting. This document describes all of the components that make up the DMI/LRS.
For additional information regarding the DMI/LRS, please Email the Roadway Operations Supervisor or call by phone at (360) 570-2361.
