Collision Data and Analysis Branch
Each year, more than 130,000 final collision records are derived from approximately 160,000 original collision reports submitted by officers and citizens for collisions occurring on Washington State highways, roads and streets. It is the responsibility of the Collision Data and Analysis Branch to: (1) accurately locate each of these collisions; (2) maintain a database of all reported collisions; (3) provide data for the identification and prioritization of safety improvements; (4) assist in the analysis of collision patterns at specific locations, as well as evaluate the effectiveness of remedial actions; and (5) provide information to government officials, organizations, the media and individuals.
