Title: State Route Tunnels of Washington
        Edition: 1
        Publication Information:
          Publication Place: Olympia, Washington USA
Publisher: Washington State Department of Transportation
    Description:
      Abstract:
This data set shows the locations of tunnels maintained or owned by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and located on the State Route system. The tunnel locations and attributes were obtained from the Transportation Data Office in an Excel Spreadsheet. Data are current as of 1/29/2004.

Tunnel locations were defined in the spreadsheet based on State Route Milepost and SR/RRT/RRQ and Accumulated Route Miles (ARM) along the State Routes. These events were mapped using the WSDOT 1:24,000 Linear Reference System (LRS) and saved as a new data layer. The LRS line work was last updated on 2/23/2004, and reflects values in the published 2003 State Highway Log (2/28/2003).
Purpose: Show the location of WSDOT Tunnels and to allow the user to determine the Tunnel ID and Structure number. With this information the user may query the WSDOT Bridge Inventory System.
      Supplemental Information:
Of the 1870 under crossings, 182 were not mapped. Of these, 5 had ARM values that were not found on the route and 177 were on routes that did not exist in the LRS. The RRTs in this second group were broken down as follows.

        RRT Number Not Found
        CD 39
        CI 44
        FD 2
        FI 1
        HD 2
        HI 1
        Ramps 88

All uxing information is included within the uxings shapefile data table. You may use the LOC_ERROR field within the shapefile to determine if a given crossing was/was not mapped and why

          Format Information Content:
The standard distribution compact disc contains all geospatial data sets created by the Washington State Dept. of Transportation. Refer to the included Geodata.txt text file for a brief description of the directory structure. Data formats vary--most data are stored as ESRI shape files, but some data models require coverages. There are also dbf-format tables of data located by geographic coordinates or State Route Accumulated Route Mileage.

          Offline Option:
            Offline Media: CD-ROM
      Fees: none
Ordering Instructions: Call, email or write the Distributor with requests for geo-spatial data sets.
Turnaround: Generally, the standard compact disc containing all distributed data can be sent within one week of receiving a data request.
