      Abstract:
        This is an extract from the State Route GIS Road Log that shows WSDOT Districts, Maintenance Areas, and Maintenance Sections along State Routes. State Route identifiers and locations based on State Route Mileposts and Accumulated Route Mileage are also included for geographic reference and for use with the Washington State Department of Transportation's 24k and 500k Linear Referencing Systems.
        This data reflects the maintenance information currently in TRIPS. This data may not coincide with maintenance agreement areas.

        Please note, this data depicts maintenance information for State Route mainlines only (ie. Ramps are not included.)
      Purpose:
        To enable Geographic Information System users to more easily display and analyze a subset of the data contained in the State Highway Log in conjunction with the Washington State 24k and 500k Linear Referencing Systems.
      Supplemental Information:
        Additional information can be found in the "State Highway Log", Electronic State Highway Log Data Definitions.doc, and the DOTarmcalc01.txt through the Point of Contact below.

      Attribute Accuracy Report: Values were obtained from the Transportation Information and Planning Support (TRIPS) database.
    Completeness Report:
      The data contained within the Electronic GIS State Highway Log is collected and updated using contract plans, field reviews and information provided by numerous WSDOT Regional and Headquarters offices as well as other county and city sources over the course of a year. This data may have changed since the publication date. This data reflects the maintenance information currently in TRIPS. This data may not coincide with maintenance agreement areas.

      Only those records that have a SRID (State Route Identifier) found in the Washington State Highways at 24K Linear Referencing System can be graphically placed as events. SRIDs that have been added or revised since the completeness date of the LRS will not place, nor will SRIDs for road features not carried by the LRS.

          Data used to create the State Highway Log Planning Report was extracted from the Transportation Information and Planning Support (TRIPS) database. Some fields were removed and new fields added. The file was processed with the ARMCalc module to obtain ARM values for placement on the 24k and 500k Linear Referencing Systems.

          The data was then imported into an ArcSDE SQL database and queried to return a table for districts, maintenance areas, and maintenance sections along increasing and decreasing directions of State Routes. This table can be queried and used with the State Routes at 24K Linear Referencing System to graphically depict the location of maintenance features as linear events.

          Maintenance Mainline data was provided in table format. Data was queried for placement along increasing and decreasing parts of the roadway for line depiction. Event data was placed along the 24K State Route Linear Referencing System using ArcGIS's Add Route Events tool and feature classes were created from the event data. Data that failed to place was designated with an EVENTERR of 1. Feature class data was loaded into existing ArcSDE feature datasets.

          Format Information Content:
            The standard distribution compact disc contains all geospatial data sets created by the Washington State Dept. of Transportation. Refer to the included Geodata.txt text file for a brief description of the directory structure. Data formats vary--most data are stored as ESRI shape files, but some data models require coverages. There are also dbf-format tables of data located by geographic coordinates or State Route Accumulated Route Mileage.
