Abstract:
This georeferenced color image represents shaded relief of landforms of the state of Washington and was created by overlaying the Washington State Department of Natural Resources Shaded Relief of Washington on top of the United States Geological Survey's 30 Meter Digital Elevation Model for Washington State.
Purpose: The image is intended to render the shape of the state's terrain in a visually intuitive manner.

Process Description:
This image was created by overlaying the Washington State Department of Natural Resources Shaded Relief of Washington data set on top of the USGS's 30 Meter Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for Washington State. The
DEM was color coded using the "topographic" color scheme in ArcMap. The Shaded Relief of Washington had 60% transparence set. This allowed the colors to show through.

The standard distribution compact disc contains all geospatial data sets created by the Washington State Dept. of Transportation. Refer to the included Geodata.txt text file for a brief description of the directory structure.
Data formats vary--most data are stored as ESRI shape files, but some data models require coverages. There are also dbf-format tables of data located by geographic coordinates or State Route Accumulated Route Mileage.
