WA-Trans Logo

The One-Road Pilot is a joint effort funded by a number of states who want to build a similar WA-Trans type project for themselves. The funding is facilitated through the Transportation Pooled Fund. The goal is to be able to share the best available GIS transportation data statewide, connected across cities, counties and between states.

The One-Road Pilot focuses on research regarding:

  • Development of software utilities for sharing and integrating data.
  • Documentation of research and the processes developed.
NOTE: Prototype software is expected, but production level software may not be available in the time frame and funding of the One-Road Pilot.

Project News

  • The One-Road Pilot Data User Portal Prototype is installed; has been tested and meets expectations. This is the first iteration and the second iteration will be installed the last week of April 2008.
  • Data loading back end software has been installed. The data uploads to a standardized SQL database and downloads from that database have been successfully tested.
  • The Annual Transportation Pooled Fund Advisory Team (GISDC) meeting is being held in Olympia, Washington on May 13 and 14, 2008.
  • Several different Pend Oreille County GIS datasets have been successfully integrated into a standardized SQL database by Spokane County. The Pend Oreille SQL database is based on the WA-Trans database model.

WA-Trans is actively pursuing new members for the One-Road Pilot Projects through the Transportation Pooled Fund.

A consortium of public and private entities called the Geo-spatial Integration and Sharing Data Consortium (GISDC) was created to organize the Transportation Pooled Fund partner states involved in the One-Road Pilot Projects. State departments of transportation currently involved include the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), the Nebraska Department of Roads (NDR) California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) and Idaho Transportation Department (ITD). Other states have expressed interest. The GISDC is active in the One Road Pilot Projects through the GISDC Advisory Team, composed of representatives from the GISDC
