Each year, approximately half of the State Highway system is filmed using a specially equipped van. This provides a visual record of each highway as well as its immediate environment. Both directions of the highway are filmed, and the view displayed is what the "driver" would typically see as they proceed along the road.
Copies of the Video Log are provided digitally to offices within WSDOT, as well as other customers. In addition, as time and resources permit, the video logging services can be made available to other State and local governmental entities to record such things as bus routes, school zones, accident sites, etc.
