The Electronics / Vehicle Weight (Weigh in Motion - WIM) & Classification Section is responsible for installing, maintaining, and calibrating the Permanent Traffic Recorder (PTR) sites on state highways. The only exceptions are those sites installed and maintained by the departments' regions used for their Traffic Monitoring Centers (TMC). There are currently 159 PTR sites statewide. These sites collect either (or a combination of) volume, classification, speed or weight traffic data depending on the type of sensors and traffic recorder installed at the site.
The Electronics / Vehicle Weight (Weigh in Motion - WIM) & Classification Section can be contacted by phone at (360) 570-2374/2391.
