Attribute Definition:
The beginning accumulated route mile point. ARM (accumulated route mile) is the actual length of a route from beginning to end, measured in 1/100th mile increments.
Attribute Definition:
Milepost is "The measure of a point along the length of a route in which the distance is measured as an accrual of mileage from the beginning of a route." Note that when individual state route were first given mileposts, the mileposts also measured an accrual of mileage from the beginning of the route. Over time as physical changes were made to some routes, the state route mileposts no longer measured the accumulated mileage from the route beginning. Rather than remileposting routes to reflect these physical changes, milepost equations and sometimes back miles were used instead.

Milepost is "The measure of a point along the length of a route in which the distance is measured as an accrual of mileage from the beginning of a route." Note that when individual state route were first given mileposts, the mileposts also measured an accrual of mileage from the beginning of the route. Over time as physical changes were made to some routes, the state route mileposts no longer measured the accumulated mileage from the route beginning. Rather than remileposting routes to reflect these physical changes, milepost equations and sometimes back miles were used instead.

Any highway as defined by state law and enumerated in RCW 47.17. To differentiate, a US route is a highway designated as such by AASHTO's Special Committee on Route Numbering. The US route numbering system was created in 1926. The states plus the District of Columbia agreed at that time to give AASHTO the authority to oversee the US route numbering system. Also, an Interstate route is a highway designated in federal law as part of the Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and Defense Highways. Funding for the construction of the Interstate System was approved by congress and signed by President Eisenhower in 1956. The Interstate route numbering system was created by AASHTO in 1957.
