Purpose: This data set is used as a reference layer for geographic information systems at the Washington State Department of Transportation. This layer is not intended for navigational purposes.

Process Description:
WSDOT Quad series design files (DGN files) including ferry routes were combined into a single file. This was converted to an Arc/Info coverage using Arc command "IGDSARC." The data was transformed to geographic coordinates using Arc commands "PROJECTDEFINE" and "PROJECT." Attributes of Ownership and State Route Number (if applicable) were added to the arc attribute table in ArcView, and the result converted to a shapefile.
