Process Description:
Washington State's National Scenic Area was digitized in Microstation from USGS Quadrangles and other government provided resources to produce the statewide DGN file, gisre22.dgn. The Microstation design file gisre22.dgn was converted to an Arc/Info coverage with the Arc command "IGDSARC." A coverage of scenic area boundaries was extracted by joining the INFO .ACODE table to the arc attribute table and selecting lines that came from Microstation. Line intersections and polygon topology were built with the Arc command "CLEAN," at a tolerance of .00015. Polygon attributes were created for scenic area names and the values entered interactively in ArcEdit. Finally, the coverage was transformed to geographic coordinates with the Arc commands "PROJECTDEFINE" and "PROJECT."
