Day Trips from Seattle

Day Trips from Seattle You can take ferries from the Seattle waterfront to Bainbridge Island or Bremerton if you want a short trip on our marine highway. Seattle/Colman Dock is in the heart of the city's waterfront. Hop a trolley to travel on the waterfront, or hike or bus up to the city's business district. The dock is steps from the Seattle Aquarium and a short hike to the Pike Place Market.

To get to Colman Dock from Interstate 5 (I-5) north take exit 164B, or from I-5 south take exit 164. Take a right onto 4th Ave. South and then turn right onto South Royal Brougham Way. Take a right at Alaskan Way and move into the left hand lane. Follow signs and take a left off Alaskan Way at the entrance to the ferry terminal if you plan to take your car on the ferry.

There is no parking at the terminal itself, but there are downtown parking lots and garages with longer term parking within walking distance of the terminal. There is also two-hour metered street parking across the street from the terminal. If you park and walk on the ferry, be sure to choose parking that accommodates the length of your trip.

Ferries from Seattle make a one hour crossing to Bremerton, the largest city on the Kitsap Peninsula and home to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Bremerton Naval Museum. Ferries also make a 35-minute crossing to Bainbridge Island. The island's dock is a short walk from a quaint village of galleries, restaurants, and shops.
