Plan Ahead for Ferry Travel on Port Townsend/Keystone Route September 5-7
~ The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Ferries Division advises both vehicle and walk-on travelers to plan ahead for travel on the Port Townsend/Keystone ferry route during Port Townsend’s Wooden Boat Festival the weekend of Sept. 5-7. Vehicle travelers are strongly encouraged make reservations ahead of time online or by phone, and walk-on passengers should consider traveling during off-peak times to avoid long waits at the terminals.

Vehicle reservations are available for the Port Townsend/Keystone route, but WSDOT does not take reservations for walk-on passengers. With a capacity of 300 passengers on the Steilacoom II, walk-on traffic may exceed the vessel’s capacity at the above mentioned times during this festival weekend. Passengers in vehicles count toward the total maximum capacity.

Customers can access the Port Townsend/Keystone sailing schedule and make vehicle reservations on the WSDOT Ferries Division Web site at www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries or by calling 1-888-808-7977 (WA and BC) or 5-1-1 (WA).

Seattle / Bremerton Route - Tunnel Project Creates Traffic Detour
Beginning on Tuesday, June 10, increased construction activity in the holding lanes at the Bremerton terminal will occur as work progresses on the Bremerton Tunnel. Vehicle drivers may find themselves waiting outside of the tollbooths because capacity in the holding lanes will be decreased. Once the vessel starts loading, terminal staff will process sales as quickly as possible to minimize delays. Due to congestion in the area it is recommended that you plan extra time to get to the terminal. The city of Bremerton will be providing additional pick-up and drop-off stalls on 2nd Ave. There is one lane offloading at the Bremerton terminal. During the afternoon commute, a police officer will be at the intersection of Washington and 2nd Ave. to expedite offloading traffic through the intersection. Exiting traffic will be restricted to one lane until spring of 2009.
