As you suggest, we prefer to have the TF provide written responses of their feedback. However, I would like to take the opportunity to give an overview of our progress and our next steps at the business meeting. There are several submissions with the 17-27 December Quarterly Report that will be of great interest to the subcommittees to review and provide us with their written comments via Chuck Niessner, in parallel with the NCHRP Panel's review of the same material, so that we can consider their comments in time before we proceed with the next task of the project. These are: 1) Modified Table of Contents for Chapters 3 to 7 2) Modified Super-annotated Outline for Chapter 2 3) Very Draft Content of a few sections of Chapter 2 for review by the panel and TF with respect to the approach and level of presentation of material of this unique chapter. 4)Sample section of a topic of Chapter 6 in 2 formats: a) Synthesis of material reviewed for this topic (Revised Annotated Outline), and b) Proposed content and presentation for a future HSM inclusion 5)Summary of the Procedures adopted by the 17-27 Research Team for the determining index of effectiveness (t and AMF) and respective standard error (s) applied to Chapters 3-6 6) A description of the language style proposed for the HSM As soon as I submit to the Panel the Quarterly report, Chuck will send to you for the TF to post it onto the member website. It will be critical to the project to benefit effectively from the Task Force thoughts; therefore, we request that all comments be submitted within 1 month of TRB (mid-February 2005). I sincerely hope the TF member and friends will be able to provide Chuck Niessner with their written comments. As you noticed in the dates for key delievarbles I have provided Doug, the interim report will be submitted in February/March and will contain the syntheses of all the reviews undertaken for Chapter 3-7. The prototype chapter will be developed in time for the Mid Year TF meeting. Hope it answers your questions Geni Bahar, P.Eng. There are a lot of items competing for time, and something will have to give. As it stands now, I am not sure we will have all the time needed for the TF to conduct its basic business. However, I want the TF to keep up-to-date on the progress of your three NCHRP Projects, since they are directly targeted for the HSM, and are very important elements. Therefore, I wanted to explore with you the degree to which you feel, for the January meeting, you need to have interaction with the TF. I would like you to consider, as an alternative to a presentation to the TF at the business meeting, submitting a written summary of your project's status. It all depends upon how much feedback you would like from the full TF, as to how much you write. If, at this time, it would primarily be a status report, with interaction needed at a later stage, then I would anticipate that a page or two should suffice. It would be my intent, then, to ask the TF to provide written response to any request you may want to make for feedback. However, if you think it will be important to have interaction with the TF at the January meeting, we could consider scheduling a few minutes for reactions to what was given to them to review prior to the meeting. To do this, we would like to have your written summary by 17 December, so we can mount it on our website for TF participants to access. Please keep in mind that it is my hope that we can spend siginficant amount of time at the 2005 mid-year meeting, getting details of the work on each of your projects, in a workshop mode. We will also be doing our best to respond to reviews requested between meetings. I'd appreciate your feedback on this as soon as feasible.
