This design memorandum allows steel casing to be considered in the structural capacity of piles, shafts, and connections of pile-to-pile cap and column-to-shaft Foundation. This memorandum provides guidance for structural design of concrete filled steel tubes (CFT) and reinforced concrete filled steel tubes (RCFT) for bridges and other structures foundations. Use of CFT and RCFT requires approval from the WSDOT Bridge Design Engineer.   read more....
