| SUBJECT: | Detailing for Roadway Slab With Roadway Crown Between Girders |
Please refer to the attached memo from A. Diedrich of the Construction Support Unit. There is a problem with detailing a crown in the bottom of a roadway slab when the crown is between girders. This is an expensive and difficult detail to build. For future designs, we should be detailing the bottom of the roadway slab to be a straight line between edges of supporting girders (plus appropriate concrete pad on top of girders as shown).
