Licenses

Software developed by WSDOT for the Alternate Route Project is licensed under the terms and conditions of the Alternate Route Open Source Licenses.  Theses licenses are based on the GNU General Public Licenses published by the Free Software Foundation.

We have two Alternate Route licenses, the Alternate Route Open Source License (AROSL) and the Alternate Route Library Open Source License (ARLOSL).  Our end user software applications are licensed using the AROSL.  We want to keep these applications open and free.  The WBFL is licensed with the ARLOSL.  We want to keep this open and free as well, but we want to make it easier for commercial software developers to take advantage of the WBFL and contribute to the bridge engineering community.  The ARLOSL allows you to create proprietary works if you simply make use of the WBFL.

Feel free to use the Alternate Route Open Source Licenses for your software.
