  • ASA – Aggregate Source Approval

In an effort to meet Standard Specification 1-06.1 “Approval of Materials Prior to Use,” WSDOT maintains the Aggregate Source Approval system, a database list of over 7,000 aggregate sources throughout Washington that have been used for highway construction.  Access to this system is available through the WSDOT intranet and via the internet at www.wsdot.wa.gov/biz/mats/asa/.  The ASA database is updated daily as new test results and new sources become available.

  • QPL – Qualified Products List

In an effort to meet Standard Specification 1-06.1 “Approval of Materials Prior to Use,” WSDOT maintains the Qualified Products List system, a database list of over 1,300 construction materials that have been pre-approved for use in WSDOT highway construction.  Access to this system is available through the WSDOT intranet and via the internet at www.wsdot.wa.gov/biz/mats/qpl/qpl.cfm.  The QPL database is updated daily as new test results and new materials are approved.

  • RAM – Request for Approval of Material

In an effort to meet Standard Specification 1-06.1 “Approval of Materials Prior to Use,” WSDOT provides the Request for Approval of Material form (DOT 350-071). This form is to be used by Contractors when proposed materials are not listed on the QPL.  Materials Documentation staff is available to research and approve/reject as necessary materials proposed for use via this method.

  • ROM – Record of Materials

In an effort to meet Construction Manual 9-1.5A “Record of Materials,” WSDOT provides a Record of Materials to each WSDOT Project Office for every highway construction project.  This report identifies the major construction items, listing the kinds and quantities for all materials deemed to require quality control testing.  It further identifies the minimum number of acceptance and verification samples required for acceptance of these materials.  Materials Documentation staff is available to research and calculate this criteria based on contract documents, Construction Manual guidelines and the Standard Specifications.
