Materials Fabrication

The Materials Fabrication Inspection section operates under the direction of the State Materials Engineer, and Construction Materials Engineer in Tumwater.  The section supervisor is Al Gabo.  The Materials Fabrication Inspection section provides the following services:

• Approve fabricators 

• Perform In-plant Quality Assurance inspection

• Perform Quality Assurance inspection at project sites

• In house certified welding inspectors, assist project offices in monitoring field welding

• Provide technical support for field bridge painting contracts 

• Perform Cross Hole Sonic Logging (CSL) tests on drilled shafts

• Perform Quality Assurance Ultrasonic testing of welds

• Assist project offices in verification of Materials on Hand (MOH)

• Administrate consulting agreement for welding and metallurgy expertise

• Provide Quality Assurance inspection services to cities, counties, and other states 

• Sample bolts for steel girders at bridge fabrication facility
