Post
Tensioning Class: Describes
the field requirements to perform the post tensioning inspection
both on bridges and soil nails and permanent ground anchors. The
class goes over what post-tensioning is, filling out post tensioning
notes, interpreting shop drawings, material requirements, and grouting.
The class is for inspectors that haven't been involved in post tensioning
inspection for several years and new inspector's. The class should
be taken several weeks before post tensioning so the inspector has
enough time to prepare for the inspection.
Shaft Inspection Class:
Describes what are the field requirements
to perform shaft inspection, goes over the current methods of shaft
construction, conventional method, rotator, and oscillator method.
Specification requirements, testing (CSL testing), obstructions,
concrete placement, and miscellaneous details. This class is for
new inspectors and inspectors that haven't been involved with shaft
construction for several years. The class should be taken prior
to the shaft driller arriving on the jobsite to begin work.
Just-in-Time
Training for Bridge and Structures Construction Inspection
Bridge Painting
The fabrication inspection staff of the HQ Materials Lab will provide
just-in-time training for field inspection of surface preparation
and painting. This is a three hour class.
Bolt Installation and Welding
The fabrication inspection staff of the HQ Materials Lab will provide
just–in-time training for field inspection of welding and bolting.
This is a two hour class.
Pile Driving
The bridge construction staff of the HQ Construction Office will
provide just-in-time training for field inspection of pile driving.
This is a two hour class.
Soil Nail Walls, Soldier Pile and Tieback Walls
The geotechnical staff of the HQ Materials Lab will provide just-in-time
inspection training for the soil nail and soldier pile walls. Permanent
ground anchor (PGA) inspection will also be covered in this training.
This is a two hour class.
Bridge Decks and Overlays Placement
Bridge deck wet curing is vital to achieving long term service life.
The HQ Construction staff will discuss the BMPs during the pre-deck
pour meeting.
