Ms. Murray is the Project Manager for the Long-Term Air Transportation System (LATS) project that has just started for Washington State. LATS is a statewide airport initiative focused on developing a strategic plan for long-term airport investment in Washington. In close coordination with WSDOT Aviation, Ms. Murray will lead a team comprised of nationally recognized firms including SH&E, URS, WH Pacific, PRR and Keiser Phillips Associates.
Sonjia Murray is a Director with SH&E, the largest and foremost consultancy firm specializing in commercial aviation in the industry. For over 42 years, SH&E has performed over 6,000 assignments, and served hundreds of airlines, airports and government agencies worldwide. The firm maintains offices in New York City (headquarters), Boston, London, Los Angeles and Washington, DC. Ms. Murray has been with SH&E since 1994 where she started as an analyst. She specializes in market and economic analysis, strategic planning, air service development, system planning and economic impact studies. Her work spans a broad spectrum including airports, airlines, government agencies and the travel industry. Ms. Murray has worked with the entire range of SH&E’s worldwide airport clients, from non-hub facilities with no commercial service to large hub international gateway airports. Ms. Murray has been the project manager for past state system planning efforts including Wyoming, Vermont, West Virginia and has participated in the New England Regional Study effort that SH&E is completing.
Ms. Murray is an active member of ACI (Airport Council International), NASAO (National Association of State Aviation Officials), AAAE (American Association of Airport Executives), RAA (Regional Airline Association) and ACC (Airport Consulting Council). She serves on the system planning committee for the TRB (Transportation Research Board) and is actively part of the NGATS (Next Generation Air Transportation System) initiative being led by the FAA/JPDO, participating on the airport issues team. She also speaks frequently on industry issues several times a year. Ms. Murray holds a BS in Economics and Marketing from Babson College, Wellesely, Massachusetts.
