WSDOT Aviation operates 16 airports, offering a gateway to the beautiful backcountry of Washington State. Of these airports, WSDOT owns eight, leases one, and operates the remaining seven under conditional use permits.
The airfields, located primarily in regions that experience extreme climatic conditions, provide strategic landing or staging sites for emergency medical air response, transport, evacuation points and fire fighting.
However, in addition to being emergency airfields, the state airports also serve as great spots for pilots to fish, camp, hike, etc. Listed below are some of the recreational services available at your state airports.
Because these are remote strips, please watch for pedestrians, vehicles and animals on the runways.
Let us know where you've been: Most airports have guest log books; please sign in when you visit. If you are unable to locate the log book, please contact Paul Wolf at wolfp@wsdot.wa.gov.
For more information on the state-operated airports, please check your current Airport Facilities Directory, check NOTAMS at 800-WX-BRIEF, call Airport Construction Project Manager, Paul Wolf 360-651-6313, or and use the information listed below.
