Land Use Program Guidebook Update

What is the Purpose of the Guidebook Update?

The WSDOT Aviation guidebook update will build upon existing technical resources, tools and new research efforts by other states to address airport land use compatibility. The project will also focus on protecting airports as essential public facilities and the planning realities in Washington State. The update will consider recommendations from the 2005 program evaluation, and the format will be designed to reach a variety of aviation and land use planning audiences. The goals of the project are:

  • Provide user-friendly, step-by-step guidance
  • Explain the purpose and policies of WSDOT’s Airport Land Use Compatibility Program
  • Describe the technical assistance services offered by WSDOT Aviation

What is the Project Timeline?

Work on the project began in Fall 2006 and will be completed in late 2007. The anticipated release date of the draft for public review and comment is October 2007.
