Did you know?
Washington is home to the largest and oldest vanpool network in the country. As of June 2011, more than 2,600 vanpools and 144 King County VanShares together carry, on average, more than 18,000 commuters per weekday.

Puget Sound Leads the Nation

The Puget Sound region leads the nation in vanpooling with more than 2,000 rolling each weekday. The oldest and largest public vanpool network in North America, it includes programs operated by six transit agencies:

VanShare

King County Metro bridges the gap between your transit stop and work or home with VanShare. The program provides the vans that get commuters from the station or transit center to their final destination.

Washington commuters took nearly 8.9 million trips by vanpool in 2010. It reduced single-occupant vehicle miles traveled by an estimated 145 million and saved vanpoolers more than $26 million on gasoline.

Tailored vanpool services, commute trip reduction  (CTR) incentives and rising gas prices make vanpooling a popular option.

At least 20 regional transit agencies across the state now offer vanpooling.
