  • Benton County SWAT Team
    "SWAT TEAM" stop by the Expo and see a live demonstration by the Benton County Regional SWAT Team. The Benton County sheriff's office has six members specially trained in the use of special weapons and tactics (SWAT). Two additional officers are trained in hostage negotiations. Together they join other specially trained officers from Kennewick, Richland, Prosser and West Richland police departments to staff a regional SWAT team of over 20 officers.

    "Human Power Augmented (aka electric-assisted) Bikes." presented by Eric Sundin, Electric Bikes Northwest. Learn about these rapidly emerging bicycles, which the RCW regards as a non-motorized vehicle. Take a test ride while expending the energy equivalent of an incandescent light bulb in your living room. 

 

  • “DOWNTOWN, On the go!” presented by Daphne Tackett, Pierce Transit. View our approach to Growth & Transportation Efficiency Center (GTEC) plans for the City of Tacoma. We’ll share our partnership efforts, business charter, and promotional plans designed to reduce drive alone trips among the business community, residents, and the University of Washington at Tacoma. Program launch is scheduled for October 1, 2008. We’ll also highlight PierceTrips.com, including the newly launched commuter calendar. This Web site is a joint effort between Pierce Transit, Pierce County, and the City of Tacoma.

  • "Wheelchair Lift Seminar" presented by Eric Pearson, The Braun Corporation. Thirty minutes of “Hands On” Braun Wheelchair Lift Training covering the new FMVSS 403 Wheelchair lifts- Millennium, Century, and Vista models.

    Do’s and Don’ts - Proper lift operation and understanding lift safety features.

    How to trouble shoot basic failures and manually operate lift in emergencies.

  • "Hot Lanes SR167 Pilot Project" presented by Patty Rubstello, WSDOT. The SR 167 HOT lanes have been performing well since operations began on Saturday, May 3.   • "Everyone can Ride the Bus" presented by Karl Johanson, Council on Aging and Human services. Karl Johanson, CCTM, will discuss the latest developments in merging school bus specifications and community transportation operations. Featured will be COAST's Multi-Function School Activity Buses (MFSABs) which features integrated seating that meets all of the height/weight/age child restraint requirements for transporting Head Start participants and three point lap/shoulder belts for adults. The seating also includes LATCH points for use with rear-facing infants seats, and adjustable lap belts that eliminate the need for booster seats for older children.
