Annually crews work from both sides of the pass to clear snow off the North Cascades Highway and open the pass between milepost 134 on the west side and milepost 170 on the east side.  

During clearing work we indicated the two crews progress in mileposts with arrows on the scale below. This year they met at around milepost 161.

Crews met each other on Thursday, April 20.  The pass was opened to traffic on Monday, May 1st at noon.
