CERTIFICATION ACCEPTANCE (CA)

Certification Acceptance (CA) is a program in which FHWA delegates authority to WSDOT for approving project development and construction adiminstration. WSDOT has the option of delegating some or all of this authority to qualified local agencies, state or federal agencies, or Indian tribes. Benefits of CA to a local agency include savings in time and money, since the agency has the authority to develop, advertise, award and manage its own projects.
Highways & Local Programs encourages CA approved agencies to work with and assist non-CA agencies. Review the explanation and inter-local agreement below, to cover CA requirements.
