WASHINGTON STATE BRIDGE INSPECTION MANUAL
The Bridge Inspection Committee (BIC)
The Washington State Bridge Inspection Manual (WSBIM), M36-64, is produced as a joint effort between State and Local Agencies. These representatives are collectively known as the BIC. The WSBIM has been updated and the current version is dated December 2006. An electronic version of the WSBIM is available at the link below.
The WSBIM incorporates the FHWA Coding Guide, National Bridge Inspection Standard (NBIS), and Washington States requirements for in-service bridge inspection. It has sections covering the Bridge Management System (BMS) used in Washington State, load rating, scour evaluation, critical damage inspection procedures, and inspection reports and requirements.
Updated versions of the WSBIM were distributed in November 2006 to Local Agency bridge owners, Washington State Bridge offices, and Consultants inspecting bridges in Washington State.
