Reporting progress and seeking responsible, sustainable results
This report provides an update on our sustainable transportation legislative tasks and current efforts to provide a more sustainable transportation system. As directed by the Governor's Executive Order 09-05 (pdf 85kb), and the Legislature (Revised Code of Washington 47.01.440 (4)).
We studied:
- Statewide vehicle miles traveled (VMT)
- Tools used to count and track VMT
- Potential ways to reduce these VMT numbers, and
- Overall greenhouse gas (GHG) emission-reduction targets.
We also examined how VMT reduction strategies will affect different populations such as small businesses and low-income, rural populations.
